Description

The Quick Draw Brand bell housing adapter mates the traditional Chevy small-block, big-block, and BOP V-8 engines to the LT1 variant of the T56 6-speed transmission. This adapter works with a wide range of engines, including 283, 305, 327, 350, and 400 small-blocks , Chevy big-blocks (such as the 454), AND all BOP (Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac) V8 engines. Note this is a full bell housing and not an adapter ring! In addition to the bell housing, we include a dust cover and installation hardware.

The Quick Draw bell housing is cast from A356 aluminum and has extra thick walls to handle torque torque levels from stock to well beyond.  It features a dual starter pocket design, so it will work with a variety of different GM applications and configurations. This is a cost effective and flexible solution for builders who are not needing SFI certification and do not plan to race their car.

This bell housing adapter came about from numerous customers asking about bolting their existing T56 to a pre LS engine using Auto Zone parts.  This kit ditches the stock T56 dual mass flywheel and allows the use of a lightweight factory flywheel along with a generic single disk clutch kit.  This kit is designed to use a commonly available slave cylinder from a 2015 Nissan 350Z that can be sourced at any auto parts store or we can ship one with the kit for an additional fee.  The bleeder line is also a Nissan or online part and allows for extremely easy one handed bleeding outside the bell.  It can also be added to the purchase of this kit.  The remainder of the clutch hydraulics simply connect the slave and the 3rd gen Camaro master cylinder using -3an fittings, that are provided, and hydraulic SS braided hose that can be purchased here. This kit was tested in house with a .750 master cylinder, same as factory 3rd and 4th gen Camaro.

Please Note: You will have to take the front cover off the T56, press the old steel slave bearing slide out of the aluminum face plate, and install our new “slave indexer” that includes a new front seal and o ring.  This process takes 10 minutes but it is very important to make sure the case goes back together by hand before tightening the bolts as the internal shafts can move during disassembly.
