Quick Draw now offers exactly that: a complete Motor Mount and Transmission cross member kit with height shims to install a Cummins R2.8 into a Jeep YJ using the factory frame Perch and Cross member….no welding or frame modifications required!
The Quick Draw engine-side motor mount brackets simply bolt to the the R2.8 engine block…these brackets are available fully welded and ready to install, or you can choose to have them ship unwelded should you prefer to weld them up yourself. These brackets are designed to utilize the factory 4.0L motor mounts, which are readily available through either a Mopar dealer or your local auto parts store. Our kit is available with genuine Mopar mounts should you want an easy, one-source solution. Note that our bracket kit is also compatible with most aftermarket replacement mounts on the market that utilize either polyurethane or rubber isolators, including 1″ raised motor mounts should you want to use them.
This kit places the motor mounts in the same location that they were with the 4.0L engine, meaning the original frame mounts are re-used with no modifications necessary. This also takes the guesswork out of engine placement, ensuring that the R2.8 is positioned exactly were it needs to be in the YJ chassis. As an added benefit,the transfer case stays in factory location, and the shifters come out factory hole if retaining the original AX-15 transmission and NP231 transfer case. Factory driveshafts are also retained.
This kit also includes a new genuine Mopar 4-bolt transmission mount that’s used in later (97-02) Wrangler applications. Note that it may be necessary to re-drill the transmission mount holes in the crossmember depending on what style transmission mount your YJ is equipped with, but the factory transmission crossmember can be retained. We also include shims that allow you to fine-tune driveline angle.
All of the bracketry is contructed of 0.25-inch laser-cut steel and all necessary bolts are included.
As mentioned above, choose the option to include OEM Mopar Rubber Motor Mounts and transmission mount, or source your own. Note that you will need 4.0L engine mounts and 4-bolt transmission mount from the 1997 and up AX15 if you source your own .
